Pat Smullen brought up a quick-fire double in Listowel on board Orangey Red in the extended six furlong handicap.

Orangey Red (7/1) was ridden in third over a furlong out and improved to second with 150 yards to race.

She had the leader Geological well within his sights and picked him off with 100 yards to travel.

The win was secured by three parts of a length from Patuano (7/2) who got up by a nose to pip Geological for second.

Geological had been very popular with punters from as big as 10/1 in the morning to 4/1 on the off.

Pat Smullen said: "She is a nice filly we know from (breeders) Moyglare and is always capable of winning something like that.

"Everything was perfect for her today with the small field and the ground is beautiful and the track is actually in tremendous nick. She really appreciated that and my initial plan was to take my time completely, but after going half a furlong I realised we weren't going as quick as I'd hoped so moved up. I got the gap when we needed it and it all worked out perfect.

"It's grand to ride a winner for my neighbour (Derek Veitch, Ringfort Stud Limited)."

Smullen did the steering for trainer Bill Farrell. The jockey also landed the opening race on newcomer Monkeylou
