Painted Fingers pinches it off Indian Scout

Wed 24th Aug 2011, 18:01

Her stable companion Vasoni (20s into 12s) was a market mover for the McElligott's Mercedes-Benz Handicap at Killarney but it was her fellow Tim Doyle-trained runner, Painted Fingers (14/1) that came out on top in the extended mile event. Indian Scout (8s into 7s) looked to have enough done soon after assuming command a furlong out but that one was grabbed on the line by the strong-finishing Painted Fingers under Billy Lee.

Equipped with a first-time tongue-tie, the seven times previously raced victorious daughter of Acclamation was described by her handler, Thurles-based Doyle as "a grand filly."

He went on: "She has been running well and it's the first day she's had a half decent draw. We also put a tongue-tie on as she just wasn't getting home in her races.

"She'll probably go to Roscommon now on Monday week for a similar race."
