Persian Wolf strikes for Lynam & Coen

Persian Wolf was a 9/2 winner of the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap in the hands of Ben Coen.
The Slade Power gelding, sixth to Spirituoso over course and distance last Friday, turned around form with that rival on this occasion. Having tracked the leaders, the winner kept on well to collar Mosaaheb in the final strides after that rival drifted left under pressure. In the end the latter finished fourth as both Alhaajeb and Spirituoso finished well to claim minor honours. The winning margins were a neck and two heads.
Eddie Lynam said: "He toughed it out. He had been second up here before and wasn't beaten far.
"Ben (Coen) said the last day he thought there was a day in him. It is nice that Trevor (Dalzell, owner) was here as he is a good supporter of ours.
"He seemed to travel much better in the race in the (first-time) cheekpieces.
"I've only seen it once but he went for a gap and there wasn't enough room and he had to pull out.
"We'll try him on the turf - there's a race for him next Friday here so we'll see how he is, it might be a bit soon."
