Daily Present quickened away smartly from his rivals to run out an impressive winner of the Fairyhouse Supporting Treo Eile Maiden Hurdle this afternoon.
The Paul Nolan-trained gelding, a point-to-point winner on his debut, had shaped with promise when chasing home the well touted Hawai Game on his track debut at Naas last month.
He went to post a 9/4 shot this afternoon and was to the fore throughout in the two-and-a-half mile contest, as the three market principals disputed the lead.
Sean O'Keeffe, riding a double on the card, sent his mount on going to the second last and he skipped clear after that flight.
The Mahler gelding galloped on strongly in the closing stages and was easing up close home to beat Prevaricate by eight-and-a-half lengths.
Nolan said:- “He ran a lovely race in Naas. Even though the winner won easy, he galloped to the line and Sean was delighted.
“A step up to three miles will help him but we probably won’t do it as quick as that. He’s a light-framed individual so we won’t run him too often.
“We’ll have a chat with Rory (Kelleher, owner) and see what plan we’ll make for him. I wouldn’t like to run him on good ground.”
