Progressive Marvada wins opener
The Ken Condon trained Marvada has progressed well through the year and won her third start in four when taking the jogforjockeys.ie Fillies Race at Leopardstown this evening.
Marvada (11/4) wore down Moonlight Garden inside the final furlong, with easy to back favourite Alanza making an eye-catching seasonal debut in third, over a trip which looked very much on the short side.
Afterwards Condon stated “there was always a little risk coming back so quick after her Curragh run but she is definitely happier on faster ground.”
“We will give her a break of maybe three weeks now and she may go for a Listed or Group 3 next and try to get black-type over further.”
“A stronger pace would have suited her better today as she stays a mile. She ‘went in her coat’ in mid-September last year will be finished before then this year.”
