Preview ROSCOMMON 1st Sep

Sun 31st Aug 2008, 13:00

A mixed meeting at Roscommon is scheduled to kick off at 4.45, with the feature event the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Handicap.

Lady Alicia makes a quick reappearance after finishing third to Dirar at Downpatrick a week ago.

Dermot Weld's representative emerged from that race with plenty of credit because she wasn't entitled to get that close to the winner at the weights and she will appreciate dropping back against her own sex.

Yummy Mummy is on an upward curve and is rated the main danger, while Evening Rushour boasts a similar profile and can't be left out of calculations either.

Weld unleashes an interesting newcomer in the shape of Dark Mimosa in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction (Fillies) Maiden.

Any market moves for the daughter of Bahri would be significant, a comment which also applies to David Wachman's debutante Law Of The Jungle. However, the John Oxx-trained Mariyca went into plenty of notebooks on her own introduction and will know more about the game this time.

Oxx also takes the wraps off Pareesa, who joins stablemate Zariziyna in the Boyle Fillies Maiden, and she won't need to be anything too spectacular to make an immediate impression.

That said, the Ballydoyle pair of Love To Dance and Swwet Sixteen have been plying their trade at a much higher level, and Wachman's Moonlight Sapphire is gradually edging her way towards a win.

Our Eric sets a fair standard in the Ulster Bank Novice Hurdle and is capable of conceding upwards of 10lb to his rivals.

He had his limitations exposed in a decent race at the Galway Festival but this is nowhere near as tough, while Orpen Princess returned from a lengthy absence at the same meeting and will strip fitter now she makes her National Hunt debut in the Owen Dervin & Sons (Mares) Maiden Hurdle.
