The claimer for three-year-olds was won in good style by 13/2 chance Sapristi (from 16s this morning).
Fourth in a similar contest over a mile at Gowran on her previous start, the daughter of Free Eagle tracked the leaders and, despite having a fairly wide trip under Jamie Powell, came through to hit the front two furlongs out. Quickly clear, she kept on well to score by a length and three quarters from Child of Lir (later claimed for 10K by trainer Rebecca Menzies) who went off 9/4 favourite on debut.
John O’Donoghue, who trains the winner for Max Plapp, said: "I think the ground is the key with her, she's a summer ground filly.
“We were expecting a little bit more from her on her runs earlier in the year but we put it all down to the ground.
“We got the ground today, it was a good ride from Jamie and it's all clicked. She was in his hands and travelling and he just left her alone where she was.
“She finished off strongly, we were kind of scratching our heads as to why she wasn't staying but that was probably the ground again.
“We were saying coming back in that handicaps options are there for her now and I think there is plenty to look forward to.”
