Scotland-bound Belvedere scores at Navan
Second over the course and distance a month ago, Belvedere Cruising returned to Navan to go a place better in the Family Fun Day 25th April Maiden Hurdle.
Odds-on favourite, Marlay Park was beaten from three out here and it was left to Benash and Belvedere Cruising to battle it out on the run-in, the latter getting up close home to prevail by half a length. Scottish-based Northern Irish jockey, Peter Buchanan (at Hexham tomorrow) did the steering on the winner.
Successful trainer, Colin McBratney said: "He done it well. We were a bit worried about the ground the last day but he got through it well and did the same there again today.
"He is actually sold now and will probably go to Lucinda Russell (Buchanan's boss) and that's why Peter rode him here. He needs a fence, better ground and a bit of distance."
Belvedere Cruising carried the colours of Colin's brother, David, to victory in this two-miler.
