Tent has Champion Hurdle prep in bumper

My Tent Or Yours has an unorthodox prep run for the Stan James Champion Hurdle when he lines-up for a jumpers' bumper on an additional meeting at Kempton on Sunday.

Trainer Nicky Henderson saddles the seven-year-old in the two-mile kempton.co.uk "Jumpers' Bumper" National Hunt Flat Race after being thwarted by the weather in his attempts to run JP McManus' star over hurdles before next month's Cheltenham showpiece.

The prevailing testing conditions on turf made Henderson scrap plans to run him in the Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso and Wincanton's Kingwell Hurdle this week.

My Tent Or Yours is one of the market leaders at around 5-1 for the Champion Hurdle on March 11, and was last seen in action on this track on Boxing Day when he added the Christmas Hurdle to his Fighting Fifth triumph.

"With the weather being so bad it's a nice opportunity to get him out," said Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus.

"He's in good form and we hope everything goes well. Hopefully that will help him be spot on for Cheltenham.

"We're looking forward to seeing him out on Sunday and hope he gets round OK."

The owner also has O'Callaghan Strand and Prompter, both trained by Jonjo O'Neill, in this race for which a maximum field of 16 was declared.

"Jonjo's getting them out. It's an opportunity to get a race into them," said Berry.
