Maxine O’Sullivan announced her retirement from the saddle after winning the concluding Conor Lannen Country Store Ladies Maiden at Tramore this evening.

Recognised as one of the leading lady riders on the point-to-point circuit for many years, O’Sullivan has also made her mark on the racecourse with her success on It Came To Pass, trained by her father Eugene, at the Cheltenham Festival in 2020 the highlight.

She rode 45 winners on Irish racecourses, finishing up on the Emmet Mullins-trained Dream On Baby this evening. The 7/4 chance, owned by the Seven Heads Group Syndicate, picked up well from over a furlong out to win by all of 12 lengths from the Eoin Griffin-trained Splashing Out
