The Pat Fahy trained Thelobstercatcher following up a recent course win at Fairyhouse today when producing another dour staying performance in winning the Fairyhouse Members Handicap Chase, again under David Casey.
The grey son of Silver Patriarch won the 3m5f Porterstown Chase on his last start 31 days ago and again displayed an abundance of staming to get his head in front near the line for a short head win over Shellys Creek
Afterwards winning trainer Pat Fahy stated “David (Casey) was unbelievable on him and is riding as good as he was when he was 21 or 22!
“I thought he'd struggle on the heavy ground as there's some difference from the ground he won on the last day and he had to battle hard to get back up.
“We've always been dreaming about the Thyestes Chase with him as his owner George Moore comes back for it every year and I'd also like to keep him going for the Irish National if I thought he'd get into it.”
