Whilst Wexford had a day to forget against Dublin in the Leinster football semi final at Croke Park, a horse bearing the name of the county town did altogether better at the Curragh when landing a gamble in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund 'Ragusa' Handicap.
Rory Cleary made all on the Ulster Derby hero from last weekend and the well-backed 2/1 favourite was always going to hold the staying on second market choice, Carlo Bugatti by a length and three parts.
Cleary said of Jim Bolger's winner: "He jumped and he travelled away great in front. He was really professional.
"When they arrived to him he picked up nicely and went away. He's improving all the time." (GC & EM)
