Cork bumper winner Giant's Quest broke his Flat account at the first time of asking in the Paddy Smyth Memorial Maiden at Ballinrobe.

Sent off a strongly-fancied 5-6 favourite, Dermot Kelly's gelded son of Giant's Causeway pulled readily clear with Moymore Lad entering the final two furlongs.

The pair had it between them from then on in and winning rider Pat Smullen didn't have to get serious to pull four lengths clear on the run up to the line.< Newmarket Story swooped fast and late under Shane Foley to land the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap.

A staying-on third over a mile and a half at Tipperary in June, the 5-1 second-favourite relished the return to further, becoming outpaced before running on when it mattered most.< Mister Music Man seemed to have made a decisive move three furlongs out, but he got tired inside the distance as Newmarket Story and Second Glance flashed past, with the former scoring by a length and a quarter for trainer Willie Austin.< Golan Go who had finished a place behind Newmarket Story at Tipperary, further enhanced that particular piece of form when claiming victory in the Mayo Advertiser Handicap.< Priors Gold kicked clear on the run to the home turn but Wayne Lordan was alive to the move and sent Golan Go in pursuit.

Paul Magnier's 11-4 favourite found plenty for pressure in the closing stages and registered a one and a half-length success.

The Craic On The Track 14th August Maiden brought the Flat action to a close and top honours went to Black Belt

Representing Tracey Collins and Seamie Heffernan, the 5-2 joint-favourite had the race sewn up on the bend and came in two and a half lengths to the good over Prince Of Dubai

The Flannery's Bistro Mares Maiden Hurdle was won by Cinderella Story trained by Pat Martin and ridden by Andrew Thornton.
