Day 1 rounded off in cracking style by Rules
Rarely does any horse live up to their billing, particularly an unraced bumper performer, in the style with which the Moyglare Stud Farm-owned and Dermot Weld-trained Forgotten Rules (evens) landed the finale on day one of the Punchestown Festival, the Finlay Motor Group INH Flat Race. Tue 29th Apr
I was very pleased with the performance and I thought it was an excellent renewal of the race. Two very brave and high class stayers fought it out. Not taking anything away from the second he's a very good horse. He had the benefit of a run and was getting 5lb so I thought it was an excellent performance by Forgotten Rules on his first run back. I'm pleased with the way he handled the drying ground and it augurs well for his future. The obvious logical next step is the Ascot Gold Cup and the only caveat I would have is that he would never want the ground too firm.

He's potentially a very, very nice horse. We've always liked him. He's a stayer with speed and that's obviously what I enjoy training. We've taken our time with him . we've been very patient. He's only four and there's lots to look forward too. I'll speak to the owners and we'll decide what to do. He might even be left off for the summer.
