The Johnny Murtagh trained and ridden, Flight Ofthe Saker, took the Sligo Park Hotel Handicap on his first effort in handicap company. Wed 07th Aug
This track is a bit tight for him but it looked an ideal opportunity. He wants a big galloping track and the bigger the fence the better for him. He jumped super,. He just does enough, that's him, and he definitely has a future over fences. The more racing he gets the better he'll get. We'll see what novices come up for him. It's very special to win Kieran's race.
Ms Sandra Hughes
he's very honest, loves that trip and just gallops. He did it well when winning at Christmas and has done everything right since and the ground was the only thing today; he had never ran on ground as heavy as this but it didn't seem to bother him. You couldn't ask for much better today and there were some good horses and it was a very true run race. He's proven his worst now and will go for the Triumph Hurdle next - Our Conor might have a bit more speed but this lad grinds it out and jumps exceptionally well.
D T Hughes
He is a smashing little horse. I brought him over to Cheltenham and he ran a cracker there on his last start. He has a good, tough pedigree and he will go back to Cheltenham now, for either the Triumph or the Fred Winter, but he will probably have another run before then.
D T Hughes
that was good; I thought the ground might have been a bit quick but he jumped and travelled today. Bryan (Cooper) said that the horse that beat him at Gowran got a 'freebie' and in fairness to Guitar Pete he is getting better. He'll either go to Fairyhouse in a month's time or Leopardstown at Christmas next and might be a Triumph Hurdle horse.
D T Hughes
