we said we would test the waters over seven furlongs because there was no race for him until mid-February and he was in ripping form. I was keen to get him back out and obviously he loves the surface. He has been a remarkable horse the last couple of months for us and is flying the flag. We are thinking about going to the Good Friday meeting in Newcastle for a couple of our horses and I think a stiff mile would suit Instant Appeal. We have an eye on a race and maybe he’ll have a prep run, possibly over a mile here on February 20. He's very lightly-raced and, in fairness, he presented to us in great shape. We bought him in an online sale and I think these online sales will become more prevalent in the future because not everyone can get to see these horses or get to the sales. It was good timing for the sellers and also for us. The lads are having great enjoyment and fun.

He has paid for himself now anyway!. Jack gave him a lovely ride and timed it to perfection. We spotted him on the online sale and he was very obvious. Alpha Racing were moving him on in faith at the end of their contract. Obviously, we were looking for fresh recruits. He's still a young horse and he was third to City Of Troy in a maiden (at Curragh) all those days ago. They took their time, he obviously had his issues, he was off for a little over 12 months but they obviously nursed him back. He had very good form on the turf this year and he slipped down in the weights as well. He was a very obvious contender for up here and I think a mile definitely suits him well. There's not much of a programme now for these milers in this grade, so we might have to toy with the idea of dropping back a furlong. I think he has enough pace if they go hard - we might have to try another seven (furlongs) up here in the new year. He will be a horse for one of those Lingfield or Newcastle handicaps on Good Friday. We'll find our way with him, we will give him another couple of runs on the all-weather. We'll lightly campaign him there and see where we are in the spring time. I think he is a horse that appreciates nice ground. He'll have a break when the all-weather is finished and we'll bring him back for a nice summer handicap somewhere.

He was just ready to start the last day. David Egan was over, and he rode a winner for me on Champions Weekend, so I was keen to get him on a couple. He got a lovely feel off him the last day. Just the race didn't pan out the way it suited the last night. He got to the front probably two (furlongs) out, a couple in front of him had collapsed, and he's a horse to kind of land there. We were keen to just ride him with plenty of confidence today and Shane obviously knows the horse well. He came highly recommended from him. Lucky enough, we picked him up in the online sale - Alpha Racing were moving him on. Just a horse that made a lot of sense to us and hopefully give the shareholders a lot of fun for the winter months. Keen to use Shane on him because I think he is probably a tricky-enough horse. He's only had the one win, but had been running well all year in defeat. I was keen to get him back on board because he knows the horse very well. Absolutely (get a stint over the winter series) - now that he is probably out of the 80 bracket, there's probably only a handful of races for him. The 0-90s and 0-100s are sparing, but I don't like running them too often anyway. He'll have one run before Christmas.
