O'Brien gets it spot on Ishvana
There may have only been five in the line-up but the [email protected] Race was a cracking little heat. Many punters won't remember it with fondness though as 6/1 chance Ishvana (successful on her only previous visit here) came out best under a well-executed Joseph O'Brien ride. Wed 02nd May

Piri makes successful debut for Lyons
The opening 2yo Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Dundalk tonight went the way of Piri Wango, who was making his racecourse debut for his trainer Ger Lyons. Fri 04th Nov
He was off with a leg injury for a year but had a good holiday down in Cork near his owner David Spratt. To be honest his work was only average but we hoped the racecourse would light him up. Colin said he took a blow about two furlongs out and thought that was it but he kept on well. We are trying to build a good team together for Royal Ascot and he's still on the team!

I came very close to pulling him out. Obviously he wants better ground. Seven furlongs around a bend is his optimum trip. He was rated 97 today so that will put him up high enough to get into Dubai. He'll be a lovely horse at four and I'm really looking forward to taking him to Dubai. He holds entries in a number of Group 3s and that's where we'll be heading.
G M Lyons
you have to trust the judgement of the handicapper and he is never far wrong! I wasn't overly confident coming here and giving him a hard first first time out (this season). However we knew there was nothing for him for a few weeks so we could give him time to recover. I had the Brittannia Handicap (at Royal Ascot) in mind for him and he may run in a trial for that in the meantime. He is a lovely horse for David (Spratt) and I said last year that he could be a Listed horse and he owes us nothing at the minute.
G M Lyons
He is a lovely horse. We bought him from Mark Dwyer. He has had shore shins and we gelded him. It didn't look like he would get to the racecourse this year but he had been coming to hand in the last six weeks. If we had finished in the first three it would have done me, especially with an 85 rated horse (Srucahan) in the race, but I knew if he ran to his mark he would go close. He has a mile written all over him but I though we would try him over six furlongs tonight.
