Fragile Sumos goes well fresh again
We haven't seen Sumos Novios much since he made a winning debut in a Punchestown point-to-point on heavy ground in February 2013. He is settling and did everything right today. I could never before in his life run him like that, so quick (from his previous run) and it is only now that he is 10 years of age that he is taking his training properly. He found plenty today when he asked him and for a big horse he is agile enough over his fences. I'll run him in Punchestown if the weather lasts but it needs to be safe for him to run. He's after winning a Graded race now and it's great to get one like that. It's a great win for Jonathan too as he needed to get on a good one and it'll give him more confidence.

I thought I'd never get to talk to yee (the press) again,.
W J Burke
It's a long time since I met ye people (the press) and hopefully it won't be as long again!,.
W J Burke
He's a horse that has had a lot of problems and had the potential to be very good. He'd suspensory trouble after running at Thurles (in February) and at the time I had the good novice handicap at Navan in mind. He's entered in the Paddy Power but I don't think he'll get in. There is a race at Fairyhouse on New Years Day but he may wait for the Thyestes and should get into that. In fairness to Robbie he'd never sat on him until today and it was a real horseman's ride.
W J Burke
That was a nice performance but he has been very difficult to train and this is only his fifth ever run. He's hard to keep condition on and we have to train him on his own as he gets too lit up with other horses. For a horse that is very big and 17 hands, he is fierce athletic and is able to shorten and he'll go for the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Handicap Chase at Navan (March 15) next. My Murphy was my last winner, apart from point to points, in that race last year.
W J Burke
