Gary said that when he hit the front he just stopped and there was plenty of horse under him. That's just the type of horse he is. We got beaten by a tight margin in the (Galway) Hurdle, and then win this by a tight margin. He's a very nice horse to have and is in the Morgiana Hurdle and the Fighting Fifth. There is a week between the two races and he will go for one of them. He always runs very genuine, and is a tough, consistent horse. I'd say there is a lot more in him.
Joseph G Murphy
He is just a courageous horse and is fierce game. All he does is eats, sleeps and runs. We have him in Galway in the Amateur Handicap (which he won under Browne last year), the Hurdle and in a 1m 4f handicap so we'll see what happens. All options are opened. I always thought this horse would go to the top as he has the right attitude for racing and it's well to have him. Barry's 7lbs claim was vital in a race like that and he knows the horse and gets on well. And he always wins at a good price!
Joseph G Murphy
I was well prepared to beaten a short head! It was a turn of the Gods,. When I saw him coming wide around the outside I thought maybe he had given away too much ground, I thought he might get done again. He is a tough, genuine horse and we will probably aim him for the Galway Hurdle now. He'll get an entry in the good hurdle at Killarney before Galway.
Joseph G Murphy
I thought that he would need the run as he had a difficult preparation and he's such a lazy horse. He's always been consistent and has a big heart,. He could go for the Cesarewitch, and I would like to run him at Cheltenham in November. It's always our dream to have a Cheltenham horse and maybe this lad could be it. David said he was a different horse with the blinkers (second time to sport the headgear).
Joseph G Murphy
It was the plan. We had him in an amateur flat race at Leopardstown and we thought he would go well there and that would put him right for here. Then we went to Ballinrobe and the handicapper gave us 1lb. We were very lucky to get the rider as it was in the last moment. I did a bit of research and this rider was recommended to me. I gave him two pieces of instruction which I very seldom give a jockey - I said if you can get out get up there and, if not, take your time. One thing about him is he will travel, he will finish and he's a lazy horse. I have always said there is a big race in this horse and he is a lovely horse to have. To win an amateur race here and to have a big race in Galway just makes life worth living!
Joseph G Murphy
I suppose you could say that was long overdue. He’s very genuine but is so laid-back that he needs the blinkers to sharpen him up. He’ll be entered for the amateur race at Galway (next Monday). I think there is a big race in him some day.
Joseph G Murphy
When you're holding the steering wheel going to the races, you know this fella isn't going to run bad!,. We've always loved him and he never runs a bad race and he showed lovely battling qualities. He's a very genuine, consistent horse and while there are other horses better than him, I wouldn't swap him. He'll have another run in a handicap before hopefully running in the Fred Winter (at Cheltenham) and we'll have to wait and see if he gets in.
Joseph G Murphy
