Paddy gets a great tune out of him and the 7lb (claim) made a difference there today. He has to have the ground sloppy. He's a great old servant and that's his seventh win now. He hasn't been over-raced. I fancied him today but he had to battle for it. The owner is out in Lanzarote in 37 degrees. He's in two races on Friday. One is over six furlongs but it's a 50-80 and might be a grade too high. The problem is he doesn't really get the mile but he might get it if he's held up. I might think about the mile race. It depends how tacky the ground gets if it dries up.

It was a bit of a shock but Billy (Lee) did fancy him as our horses weren't right a couple of weeks ago and ran terribly. I was worried the ground was too fast but they went some pace on it. He is a paddly, bad mover but when they get a bit of age, they know how to mind themselves and the minute he started passing horses, he was flying it. We are running out of options as he is getting old but this is brilliant.
Miss Susan A Finn
that's actually a surprise as I thought the ground was too quick for him. He wants it deep but loose. It has to rain the day before - he's odder than myself!. He's been working well at home and the health was good and everything but he actually quickened today and I was very surprised by it. We'll hopefully go to Listowel now. The owner is from there so it's very important we go there. I was a bit worried that he was getting down a bit in the handicap but he'll be okay now for the big race on the Tuesday.

He’s as tough as you get but he can’t quicken. He’s very ground dependant, and all he does is keep at it. I’m just sorry that Eamonn O’Carroll is not here as he’s been in and out of hospital, and hopefully that will cheer him up a bit. The owners are from Listowel so that is where he will be heading. They are great owners and have been with me since I started.
Miss Susan A Finn
He struggled a little today and didn't travel coming down the hill. He picked up well on the level though and Killian (Leonard) knows him well. He needs the ground almost unraceable and is a good tough horse. There's a race for him next week at the Curragh.
Miss Susan A Finn
It's hard luck on Killian Leonard as he was suspended today. The rain was a big help and he'll be aimed at a handicap at the Galway festival.
