O'Sullivan's hopes for Magic

Ross O'Sullivan is looking to have Call It Magic back at his best for the Cheltenham Festival after being treated for sore shins.

The seven-year-old is currently on a break but O'Sullivan hopes to get him racing again next month with the intention of getting a win into him.

"Call It Magic is in good form. He came back with very sore shins from his last run and they are a thing that have been annoying him for a while," said the Curragh handler.

"We were trying to maintain them, but the last day he just didn't travel and jump like he usually does and he was very sore afterwards.

"We got his shins treated then and he is to get a break for two or three weeks, and he is allowed back riding out next Monday. It might be a blessing in disguise as he wants a bit of nice ground and I'd say winter heavy wouldn't suit him anyway.

"He will be back now for racing in the spring. I was thinking of something like the four-miler at Cheltenham for him but he'll have to go and win a race first.

"He will probably run in February, there is two handicap chases that will suit him, and we will see then.

"He might get an entry in the four-miler, the Kim Muir or one of those novice handicap chases, if not he will stay at home.

"He was dropped a couple of pounds for the last day and he does have a mark that is competitive enough, I think."
