Nigel Hawke was asked to explain why he was running Royale Blue (GB) here at Chepstow on going described as Good, Good to Soft in places, having declared the filly a non-runner at Warwick on 09 March 2025 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that having walked the course, he felt there was more ease in the ground on this occasion and was happy to allow the filly to run.
Aureus (GB), trained by Max Comley, lost its right-fore shoe on the way to post.
As the trainer had not indicated at declaration stage that the gelding should be withdrawn in the event of losing a shoe on the way to post, Aureus (GB) ran without its right-fore shoe.
Following the race, David Noonan reported that Royale Blue (GB), unplaced, hung both ways; Gavin Sheehan reported that LET’S GETAWAY LOVE (IRE), unplaced, ran green.
