An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference after the last fence when the winner Wade Out (IRE), ridden by Sean Bowen interfered with Wendigo (FR), placed second, ridden by Gavin Sheehan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Wade Out (IRE)’s placing as although Wendigo (FR) received a light bump primarily from Wade Out (IRE) drifting left-handed, it was minimal in nature and occurred approximately 1 furlong out with Wendigo (FR) always appearing held thereafter by Wade Out (IRE) on the run to the line, to be beaten by a head margin.
It was also acknowledged that Wendigo (FR) itself had edged slightly right-handed in the process.
Bowen was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed under a right-handed drive, without sufficient correction thereby causing interference to Wendigo (FR).
