Formscan By Alan Magee - MARCO POLO (3) beat all bar the talented Push The Boat Out on debut at the Curragh and, after racing too freely in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York, opened his account in decisive fashion over this trip at Cork. Livenka easily won her maiden over course and distance before taking the valuable Ballyhane Stakes in fine style, but was soundly beaten along with Where Love Lives in a Group 3 at the Curragh last time. Big Negotiator is a speedy filly and won the Listed Marwell Stakes at Naas, while The Scallionator and Nail House are others to consider in a competitive affair.

Quotes on Lars Soldier (IRE)
He said he lost his iron about a furlong down and he was well balanced; it is all about balance. We'll probably be trying to go for the Birdcatcher (Naas) now to get the bonus if you win it (€20,000 bonus as a winner of a qualifying nursery handicap). He's a competitive little horse and, at the end of the day, he was entitled to take his chance. He has been knocking on the door, and we tried him over seven (furlongs), but the opposition we were running against was very high. We came back into a nursery there and he is very competitive. Wesley is very competitive on light weights and for the size of him, he is very strong. I think he only has one or two (winners) left on his apprenticeship. He's well capable.

Quotes on Marco Polo (IRE)
He had a very good run first time, with the form of the race working out well, so Aidan pitched him in the Gimcrack. He was very keen and did everything wrong at York, so we put a line through that and this race worked out lovely and gave him confidence. Wayne said he has a lot of pace and coming back to five (furlongs) would be no problem to him. He has shown a lot of potential at home and is lovely looking. It wouldn't surprise me if he pitched up in the (Group 1) Middle Park Stakes as he is a horse of potential. He can boogie.

Quotes on Nail House (IRE)
He did well to win, I thought it was a messy race. He was a bit keen and it was a bit rough early for his debut. He looks like a nice horse and you’d like the start he made. I suppose he’ll probably be sticking to six (furlongs) for the moment. He was green and it was probably hard to get him organised. We probably ended up a place further forward than we expected to be.

Quotes on The Scallionator (IRE)
Mick has big faith in me and I'm grateful to the Clearys Syndicate for letting me ride The Scallionator as well. Doing bottom-weight is no trouble for me and I don't even own a weighing scales. I just come racing and enjoy it. The next step is to find that good horse who will bring me to the next level. I rode The Scallionator in Royal Ascot and in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes this year, so hopefully I can get one of those type horses. I have given Wesley a lot of his winners and it is nice for him to do this. Things (injuries) have happened along the way but he is where he is now and is my stable jockey now. The instructions were to bounce him out and lead, and the reason he came here was to qualify him for the final of the series at Naas (October 11).

Quotes on Big Negotiator (GB)
It was her sixth run so she is good and hardy. She was unlucky here the last day against the colts. She was pushed across the track. She went off 15/8 the other day and she was 20/1, I couldn't believe it, today. I thought it was nuts. She is a good, tough filly and I'm very happy for her. The other lady (Concorde Landed) looked a bit fresh. Billy said she was a bit fresh going to the start and I just thought she took a bad step there maybe a furlong down if you watch it back. She'll come on from it. Hard to beat the six runs.

Quotes on Fighting Tears (IRE)
She’s a very nice filly, we like her. She’s shown us plenty of ability at home,. We don’t over-prep them first time out, they usually come on. They usually take a blow and need the experience but we were kind of hopeful something like that might happen on what she was showing us at home. Ronan gave her a lovely ride. She loved the ground and was very straightforward. It’s nice to see. The Round Tower could be a possibility, we’ve made no firm plans and we’ll see what else is available. She hit the line strongly; she apparently took a blow at the furlong pole and then hit the line fairly well. I wouldn’t be afraid of stepping her up but I don’t think I need to right away. It gives us a few options.

Quotes on Livenka (GB)
I’ve always liked her. It’s a nice pot to win with her en route to where we hope to be going with her, which is black-type,. said Lyons. I put her in the Lowther this morning at second entries. If she’s alive and kicking, that’s a lovely option. As with all the Juddmonte fillies, it’s all about black-type, but this is a nice pot to win en route to that. We’ve been lucky in the race and I’m never too proud to take Joe Foley’s money!. You don’t know what she’s beaten, obviously, but you do know what she beat in Fairyhouse, that’s the plus because she (Star Of State) demolished the Leopardstown horses. Regardless of what she beat, she’s a filly that I like. I made a mistake going seven; this is where she needs to be — at this trip. We’ll concentrate on this trip for the rest of the year, and she’s a top-of-the-ground horse, which is typical of Bated Breath.
