Weld taking his time with Purview Dermot Weld is taking his time with Purview after deciding to skip the Irish Derby with the son of Kingman. The Juddmonte-owned colt was last seen chasing home Delacroix in the Derby Trial at Leopardstown last month. He had won his maiden on the all-weather at Dundalk last November and holds an entry in the Irish Champion Stakes later in the season. “I’d love to have had a runner in the Derby on Sunday but decided that he may not be a true mile and a half horse and if he didn’t get the trip, he could have a very hard race in the Derby,” said Weld.   “He’s a big, 16.2, very immature colt and I wanted to give him a bit more time.   “He’s in super order and I didn’t think it was the right move just yet over that distance.” (Alan Magee)
