Sam said he got as much fun riding him as he has on any horse in a long time. He came from the point-to-point field in England. He actually fell at the last in his point-to-point, believe it or not. I was worried about the ground but it was a good performance. He obviously came on from the last day. He was very keen at home as a young horse and he wasn’t showing me anything, but he’s come a long way in six months. I’m not sure where he’ll go next, but we’ll get him home and see where we go.

It was a fantastic ride by Brian,. He’s a very tricky horse to ride but Brian knows him well. He just bided his time and came with one run, that was the difference. You need experience in those two-mile handicap chases and he’s built that up. He had good-class bumper form and hurdle form, he’s just a decent horse. I’d imagine his route probably maps itself, all those good handicap chases. Now that he’s settling, he could probably go up in trip. We could look at the Grand Annual with him, I’m not sure at this stage. He’s another one of Aubrey McMahon’s buys, he bought him at the Clipper Logistics dispersal. He took a chance on him when a lot of people wouldn’t have. He deserves huge credit as well.

It’s a nice day to have a winner. We thought he’d run well but you never know coming here. . He’s a nice horse, jumps well and he’ll have learned a lot from that. He was never in front before. We always knew he had a lot of ability and a lot of jumping ability. Tom Gibney’s horse (Anotherway) was flying and I thought he’d maybe flown, but Donagh thought he had enough to reel him in but you never know until you do it. You don’t want to see any horse falling. It worked out very well for us with the small field and being left alone. He’s a forward-going horse and I said to JJ after the last day (unplaced at Gowran) that I’d drop him back in trip and let him rattle. He was kind of stopping at the three-quarter-way stage in his other two races, having looked to be travelling really comfortably before that. I didn’t know why, because he’s not slow. The drop back in trip has definitely suited him. The race cut up, but visually it looked good.

I know there were fallers but he won the race in a nice manner. He travels lovely every day, even in the Royal Bond he travelled very well but he cut out in a matter of 50 yards. He ran a lot better in Leopardstown the last day and hopefully he's on the way back. The ground is no bother to him as he's a big strong horse and he has plenty of gears too. I suppose the owners would like to go to Cheltenham for something so we might look at one of the handicaps.

He was a big baby last year and I know he the maiden hurdle he won last year wasn't a great race but he disappointed us afterwards. We loved him but I'd say he just wasn't able for what we were doing with him,. He has been a different horse since he came back in and had a lovely run the first day back. He has learned to settle and jump but today's race was only a restricted novice so we'll see where he goes from here. He is definitely a nice horse though, loves that ground and I'm delighted for the owners who are great supporters of the yard. Getting a winner on the first day over Christmas lifts the pressure so this is super.

It’s brilliant to win it, and brilliant to have the second and third as well. He was a very cheap purchase as a store, and he has kept improving. He has plenty of size and scope and there is no reason that he won’t keep improving. Keith was a little bit annoyed with himself that he came wide on him in Leopardstown at Christmas, and he wasn’t beaten far. He came out of it well, he’s tough and hardy. Conor is great value for the claim and that was a big help. It’s nearly like a free 5lb. You have to feel sorry for Path D’oroux. He’s threatened to win a big one and has missed again, but he ran really well. Unfortunately, he’ll probably go up another couple of pounds for that and it’ll leave it tougher for him but that’s the nature of it. Midnight It Is ran a cracker as well. He was a little bit keen early and Sean took him back out of it and he came home well. I suppose they could all end up running in the Grand Annual.

He jumped well, Darragh was brilliant on him and I'm delighted for the Holians. He is a nice young horse, came to us highly thought of and ran well in a bumper last season. We're lucky to have him, he is a gorgeous big horse who has plenty of pace. I was worried he might be keen but they went a nice gallop and he was good. We came to try and win our maiden hurdle so that's done now and we might look to one of those novice hurdles in January now as Christmas will probably come too soon.

He's a huge horse. I'm not sure where he goes now, the race at Thurles (Grade 3 Pierce Molony Memorial Novice Chase) would be an option and is probably more than likely where he'll go. He took some pearlers of falls last season and 'Puppy' (Robbie Power) did a great job with him, he went up to his for a while. The girls in the yard also did a lot of ground work at home with him. It's an unbelievable family and there are still two young ones running around. It was hard to work out Mullins' horses today as they ran so bad the last day. I thought if they mightn't be on song we might have a squeak. I know we had a bit to find on ratings but a graded race is a graded race and it was a nice pot.

I couldn't see Philip Fenton's horse (One Big Boum) being beaten and I thought Philip Rothwell's horse (Give Him A Chance) had a good chance too. This lad has been on the go along time and I brought him here and thought it might be the last time he'll ever run over a hurdle. He's 12 and it's coming towards the end of the season and I'm not going to run him on very fast ground. I thought he might enjoy today, with a bit of an ease in the ground. The veterans race is on here in about a months time and he could come back for that. He is nearly better over fences than he is over hurdles. We'll see how things are at the time. Sarah is in with us three days a week. She is very obliging and if we are stuck, she'll come in. Thank God we've got a winner for her anyway.
