Permission was given for Blue Prince (IRE), Mr Chaplin (GB) and Havana Blue (GB) to go to post early; for Blue Prince (IRE), Defence Minister (GB), Diamondonthehill (GB), Physique (IRE), and Signcastle City (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Mr Chaplin (GB) wore ear plugs which were removed at the start.
Approximately six furlongs out, in a tightly bunched field, Leadman (GB), unplaced and Glenfinnan (IRE), unplaced, were short for room and forced to take a check, resulting in Havana Blue (GB), unplaced, and Signcastle City (IRE), unplaced, having to steady.
Having reviewed the available footage, the Steward’s were unable to apportion the blame to any individual horse or rider.
An enquiry was held to consider interference one and a half furlongs out involving Defence Minister (GB), placed fourth, ridden by James Doyle and Stanage (GB), unplaced, ridden by Joanna Mason.
Doyle was suspended for 2 days for careless riding, as he allowed his mount to shift right-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear, resulting in Mason being short for room and having to take a check.
On the run to line, Diamondonthehill (GB), unplaced, stepped quickly right-handed, resulting in Physique (IRE), unplaced, becoming short for room, and having to take a check but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Great Acclaim (GB), ridden by Charles Bishop and Native Warrior (GB), placed third, ridden by C Soumillon.
Bishop was cautioned for careless riding as allowed mount to drift left-handed under a right-handed drive when insufficiently clear, resulting in Soumillon having to take a slight check.
Following the race, Ryan Sexton reported that Havana Blue (GB), unplaced, was unruly in the stalls; Elizabeth Gale reported that Diamondonthehill (GB), unplaced, accelerated the gates.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Society Man (FR), bled from the nose.
