A half-sister to Group 2-winner Coltrane, the selection built on her debut run when finishing third at Gowran last October and at the Curragh earlier this month, finished second to a capable winner, while the other beaten horses (including today’s rival Aravalli) finished a long way behind. Near Perfection is notably bred, being a half-sister to Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck and another Australian top-level winner. Her dam also scored at Group 3-level and while she makes her somewhat belated debut at a country course, could be smart. Pleased, a half-sister to Group 3 winner Fast Attack, is her yard’s second-string.
