She is a nice filly and I thought she ran well on her debut in Galway. To be fair to Billy (Lee), he told me the ground was too quick for her here the last day but I wanted to run her to give her the education. It is great to have Billy back and this filly had been in good form since that last run, which had good form. Maybe something like the Weld Park Stakes might suit next.

We thought from the first time we got her that she was good. She is a little bit fizzy, and I was a bit afraid first time out that she might boil up a bit, but she didn’t at all. She was very relaxed. I said to Kevin O’Ryan (agent) that I needed a good jockey, and he said Dylan would ride her, but he might have to put up a 1lb over. I said the horse would win and he did the weight. With those sort of fillies you nearly have to go for a stakes race. Dylan was very positive about her after the race and said she pricked her ears when she hit the front and didn’t really know what was going on.

Conor Quirke and his wife Catherine, from Fermoy, own her and have been very good to me. They got in touch last year, sent me two two-year-olds this year, so I couldn’t thank them enough. Conor is now like a fella I know ten years. Catherine has a big love for horses and when this filly wasn’t making her €30,000 reserve last September, she dug her heels in to keep her, and how right she was. we thought a lot of her and we’ve always liked her. Scott McCullagh had ridden her work from the start so a big thanks to him, Ben (Coen) and Nathan Crosse who give me a dig out every week. I thought inexperience might get the better of her, but Ben said when he put his stick down, she put her head down and dug in. She will strengthen up and Ben said she would be suited to six furlongs on a straight track, or maybe seven with a bend. We had the Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes in mind for her in July so that could be looked at now, to hopefully get blacktype. I have 20 horses in training, 11 two-year-olds and the yard recently came through from having a bug, which seems to be going around the country at the minute.

Our filly was very professional, she relaxed and when he asked her, she quickened. I think we have a nice filly going forward. I don't know where we'll go next but the curve will upwards anyway. I don't know the calibre of race it was and the O'Brien-horse (Amelia Earhart) was a bit unlucky but it was the way our filly did it - she did it very well. She is out of a Pivotal-mare and we think she is stakes class.

it was a last minute decision to run her but the beautiful thing about training for Moyglare, is you are allowed to do that and there are no set plans. I’m blessed with owners like that, I wake up and can change my mind and do whatever. Today’s race wasn’t the plan and she hasn’t worked since Cork but we were watching entries so I just threw her in. I thought it got to her today, so we’ll give her a wee break and come back for the sponsors race, the Moyglare (Stakes Group 1, September): it’s a race I’d love to put on the CV. We’ve a horse who ran well last night (Justiciar) and this filly, so have a nice bunch of horses heading that route. Colin said in Cork that Suzie Songs wanted further and sticking to the original plan, her next race would have been over seven (furlongs) but this presented itself during the week with few entries, so here we are.
