You Oughta Know was good but it was a funny race with Paul's lad (Port Joulain) pulling up lame. I was a bit raw in front but ability shone through in the end and it was a good performance from him. He started off last season very well but whatever went wrong he seems to be back showing what he can do now. He's well able for that ground and his form last year says when it gets slower he should have no problem with it as well.

He is ground and trip versatile. It was a very messy race and they went pretty steady early and it turned into a sprint. He showed a little bit of class there although it is probably hard to weigh up off that race. You probably could go back to 2m4f, but I think he will stay 3m very well. He got up on the line to win in Limerick on bottomless ground as well, he just stayed at it really well. I thought when they came around him he was going to be third. I knew he’d stay at it, but I didn’t think he’d catch the winner. He was an unlucky faller in a beginners’ chase before. He jumped well today. He said he was grand and idle in second place the whole way around. He hit the line fairly well. It was a chase for horses rated 120 or less, so it was grand for him and it’s nice to get off the mark over fences with him. Hopefully he’ll make into a nice staying chaser on soft ground. We might try him with a light weight in better races and see how we go. I thought the ground would be a bit quick today but they went a good gallop on it. He definitely wants three miles, that’s not going to happen very often where they stop like that and come back to him. He stays at it well and jumped an awful lot better today. I thought for a big horse he was maybe lacking a bit of scope, but he jumped well today.

That was his first win over hurdles but he had always been there or thereabouts and he is tough. The ground is very heavy so I was worried but we live in Cratloe and our farm is only five miles out the road (in Sixmilebrridge) so it was tempting when the track being so near. We sponsored the previous race and tried to win it but didn't have any luck. This horse is a winter horse and is a chaser really who you'd think he might win a good chase some day.

it’s a first horse for these owners so I’m after spoiling them, as they’ve won a point-to-point and now a race at Punchestown. She’s been consistent without getting her head in front but her run in Limerick I thought put her right in the picture today. She stays well and the extra few furlongs today was a big help to her and she will get three miles. She jumps well and can jump a fence in time.
