A Day to Remember for Torrens In his fourth year training in his own right, Omagh, Co. Tyrone-based Mervyn Torrens saddled the first double of his career when Nirphania and Quartetto scored at combined odds of approximately 40/1 at Down Royal today. While the former now has a date with King´s Theatre to look forward to, the promising German-bred four-year-old, Quartetto could be destined for bigger and better things. After he had foiled a Willie Mullins four-timer by beating Captain Conflict by six lengths in the bumper, Torrens said of the M J Doran-ridden victor, "we´ll see how he comes out of this first but he could go for the Cheltenham Bumper."
