ARCTIC MELBOURNE BOUND

Irish St Leger winner Arctic Owl has today been confirmed on course for the Foster`s Melbourne Cup on November 7th.

The six-year-old has come out of his exertions at the Curragh last Saturday in good form.

And he will attempt to improve on Travelmate`s performance in the Flemington race last season when his stablemate finished fifth behind Rogan Josh.

David Harrison, who partnered the gelding to his length-and-a-half success over Yavana`s Pace, retains the ride.

Trainer James Fanshawe said: 'We`re aiming for the Melbourne Cup.

'He`s come out of the Irish St Leger well, he hasn`t lost much weight and he seems bright and well.

'He goes into quarantine on October 2nd and after he has travelled over he will be stabled at Sandown in Australia.

'Hopefully we will have learnt from Travelmate and David rode round there last year.'
