Adrenalin was high, the four jockeys had been sky diving the previous afternoon and opinion was that the big steeple at Moonee was theirs for the taking. Team manager Sean Lynch´s phone rang at 11.20. 'Racing at Moonee Valley has been cancelled'. All over Australia it was the same situation. No racing anywhere because of the outbreak of Equine Flu in New South Wales. Randwick the top Sydney track has a big training centre nearby and the rumours are all over the state. But the decision to cancel in Melbourne caught everyone by surprise.For how long racing stays closed down remains to be seen. The shuttle stallions are in quarantine and are likely to remain so.
