All Well With Boscobel

Boscobel will continue racing over middle distances and beyond following his fourth in Sunday´s Budweiser Irish Derby.

Mark Johnston´s colt has made giant strides this season since starting off on the all-weather, and beat Vodafone Derby fourth Lucarno in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He was supplemented for the Curragh Classic at a cost of 150,000 and was prominent for much of the way before conceding to the Aidan O´Brien trio of easy winner Soldier Of Fortune, Alexander Of Hales and Eagle Mountain.

'He´s not come back yet but the reports from Ireland say he´s fine,' said Johnston. 'He did run well, but just emptied out very quickly in the last couple of furlongs, which was a bit of a surprise.

'The ground was heavy there and you can´t be disappointed with him as he´s come a very long way. There´s no reason why we shouldn´t run him over a mile and a half again, or even over further.'

Boscobel has entries in next week´s Princess of Wales?s WBX.COM Stakes at Newmarket and the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes.

Sponsors Ladbrokes make him 10-1 fourth-favourite behind Soldier Of Fortune for the St Leger.
