Approach set to undergo tests

New Approach is set to undergo tests tomorrow to try to ascertain the extent of the injury to his near hind leg.

Jim Bolger was forced to rule the Epsom hero out of today´s Irish Derby this morning and plans are now on hold.

"He´s still not sound. At this stage it may not be his foot. We will arrange for scans and x-rays tomorrow," said Bolger.

"We left it to the last minute. I couldn´t leave it beyond 8am. He wasn´t sound enough to go racing today. I can categorically say it is not a stone bruise - we don´t have any stones."

Bolger also said that the son of Galileo won´t be confirmed for next Saturday´s Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.

The Coolcullen handler was speaking after the victory of 20/1 shot Rock Moss in the Scurry Handicap.

The gelding, which is owned by Bolger´s daughter Fiona, is set to go to the July Sales at Newmarket.
