Aran to miss Drinmore

Aran Concerto was a surprise absentee at this morning's declaration stage for the Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase.

Connections were not perfectly satisfied with the seven-year-old, who made a successful chasing debut at Navan earlier this month following a lengthy lay-off.

'We decided not to run him. We just weren't 100% happy with him this morning. It's nothing to do with his old injury that seems all right,' said trainer Noel Meade.

'We were always worried that three weeks wasn't really long enough from his first run after he was off for so long. We decided rather than take a chance we'd just wait and give him a little more time.

'We'll just see how he gets on. He's only won the one race over fences, so we'll go for a winners' race or something like that.'

There were no other surprise withdrawals from the three Grade 1 races on Fairyhouse's Sunday card, with eight runners declared for all three events.

Cousin Vinny makes his eagerly awaited hurdling debut in the 'Royal Bond', while Brave Inca and Hardy Eustace both line-up in the 'Hatton's Grace'.
