Attraction Flop A Mystery

Middleham trainer Mark Johnston was at a loss yesterday to explain the disappointing effort of stable star Attraction in Hong Kong on Saturday.

The four-year-old flopped in the Champions Mile, trailing home 11th of the 13 runners in a race which also saw local hero Silent Witness lose his long unbeaten record.

Back in Britain to saddle runners at Ripon, Johnston said: 'She was OK this morning. She pulled out a bit stiff but other than that there´s nothing to see.

'If Phoenix Reach and Alexander Goldrun (second and third respectively in Singapore on Sunday) can handle the heat why can´t Attraction?

'But on the other hand the Alexander Goldrun form continues to stand up so it clearly wasn´t Attraction´s run. Why not I don´t know.

'The aim will still be the Queen Anne (at Royal Ascot at York).'
