BERRY APPEAL UNSUCCESSFUL

Fran Berry today lost his appeal against a two-day ban received at Fairyhouse last month.

To add to Berry's woes he was fined £200 for making a frivolous appeal. He will sit out tomorrow and Saturday.

Berry picked up the suspension for using his whip with excessive force when finishing second on Brigade Charge in the Powers Gold Label Handicap Hurdle on April 25th.

The Appeals and Referrals Committee today also ruled that the mix up which saw the wrong horse run under the name of Standfast at Listowel on April 15th and Cork on April 22nd was a genuine mistake.

Owner Patrick O'Donovan was cautioned after it transpired that the horse that ran was in fact a bay filly by Surpeme Leader as opposed to Standfast - a bay filly by Standiford.
