Benbaun Could Double Up At Ascot

Benbaun could run twice in the space of five days at Royal Ascot following his impressive recent return to action at the Curragh.

Mark Wallace´s speedster was landing his fourth victory at the Irish venue when slamming Moss Vale by two-and-a-half lengths in Group Three company.

The Newmarket handler is now keen to unleash his charge in the King´s Stand Stakes on June 19 before contemplating whether to saddle him in the Golden Jubilee Stakes as well.

Reflecting on his recent success, Wallace said: 'I´d say that was probably his best ever run the other day and he seems to have improved again as a six-year-old.

'He´ll definitely run in the King´s Stand and then we´ll see how he pulls up after that,' he added of the son of Stravinsky, who finished a short-head second behind Takeover Target in the race last summer.

'If he´s fresh and well afterwards then we might look at the Golden Jubilee for him.' Wallace continued.

'Before, we were worried whether he would get six furlongs but I think he showed the other day that he does get it, so the July Cup could be a possible as well.

'He´s a very big horse so the older he´s getting, the more mature he´s getting,' he told At The Races.

'He´s filling out and I´d say that´s the reason why he´s improving.'
