Benefit Run (20/1) landed the opening Thurles Beginners Chase for Ross O’Sullivan in the hands of Luke Dempsey. Thisonesforollie had every chance in front when falling two out here, and she was one of just seven that failed to complete the course, falling or unseating their riders. Thisoneforollie’s jockey Davy Russell (sore) was stood down for the day. Belle West lively in early trading on this two and a quarter miler, was easier to back on track (3/1 out to 5/1). She fell at the last meeting here on October 24th and this time it was more of the same as Liam Burke’s mare came to grief three out.

At the finish Benefit Run had a length and three parts and five lengths in hand over Muyam Spirit and Shakeytry

"He won a maiden hurdle in the summer time at Sligo and now he is after winning a beginners' chase. He is no superstar but is after winning two races this year which is great," said O'Sullivan on the Downtown Syndicate-owned seven-year-old, bred by the late John Monroe.

"He'll be competitive in his own grade in handicaps and he jumped great and Luke was delighted with him.

"These rated chases are great for those type of horses as that's their level and it gives us all a chance and I wish there were a few more of them."
