Blaze Joins Newbury Possibles

Nigel Twiston-Davies has added Mahogany Blaze to the list for the totepool Game Spirit Chase after Saturday's race at Newbury was re-opened.

The Naunton trainer already had Patman du Charmil in the Grade Two contest over two miles and a furlong for which there are now nine entries headed by Voy Por Ustedes.

Alan King's smart performer unseated Robert Thornton in last year's race won by Well Chief before going on to land the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

Well Chief's trainer David Pipe could run Pablo du Charmil this time while champion trainer Paul Nicholls relies on French import Master Minded, who opened his British account at Sandown a month ago.

Paddy Power Gold Cup winner L'Antartique has been confirmed a definite starter by Ferdy Murphy.

"All the hotpots will be there so he's going just to get a run into him," said the West Witton trainer.

"It's difficult with the rating he has to find races for him. The only real option we have is to run him there or run him over hurdles and I don't want to do that.

"I've had a chat with the owner Tony Durkan and he said to go and kick on and have a bit of a craic at Newbury," Murphy told At The Races.

The list is completed by Cossack Dancer, Gardasee and Monzon.
