Bolger happy with ground for Approach Jim Bolger is happy with conditions at Newmarket ahead of New Approach´s run in the Stanjamesuk.com 2000 Guineas on Saturday. The going on the Rowley Mile is currently good to firm but with rain forecast between now and Saturday that description is likely to ease. That scenario would please Bolger, although he is confident his unbeaten three year old would adapt to any conditions that surfaced on race day. He told sportinglife.com: "I´d be happy with nice ground. Whatever situations arise it doesn´t matter - he goes on all sorts of going. Obviously given a preference I´d opt for good safe ground." New Approach has headed the ante-post betting for the race since late last summer, with his performance in the Dewhurst in October cementing his position as champion two year old. Raven´s Pass was three lengths behind in third that day, and it is he who has emerged as the main rival to New Approach on Saturday, following a promising second to Twice Over in the Craven Stakes two weeks ago. However, Bolger wouldn´t be drawn on who he felt would be New Approach´s main threat. He said: "They´re all dangers. You don´t get bad horses running in the 2000 Guineas. I have the utmost respect for all of them." Asked to sum up New Approach´s well-being and chances Bolger replied: "He´s very well," and "good." New Approach remains the 15/8 market leader for Saturday´s contest with Sky Bet.
