Bookmakers delighted with Henry´s win Henrythenavigator´s 2000 Guineas win was described as "a fantastic result" by bookmakers, following the 11/1 winner´s defeat of heavily backed 11/8 favourite New Approach. The runner-up, the long-time 2,000 Guineas favourite, touched 1-5 in running on Betfair. Henrythenavigator traded at an in-running high of 31-1. His SP on Betfair was 16-1, in a 100.9 per cent book. Ante-post punters, already reeling from New Approach being taken out of the Vodafone Derby betting after trainer Jim Bolger´s bombshell that he is unlikely to go to Epsom, suffered further agony on Saturday, much to the joy of layers. Tony Kenny, spokesman for William Hill, said: ?It was a fantastic race, and a fantastic result for the bookmakers.? Similarly, Coral´s Simon Clare said: ?It was a great result. Had the photo been the other way round, it would have been a very poor one for us. ?All themoney in the shops was for New Approach ? who we obviously had liabilities on seeing he was favourite through the winter ? and Ibn Khaldun, so unusually an Aidan O´Brien-trained Guineas winner was cheered home at Barking.? Paddy Power, head of communications for the bookmaker of that name, said: ?It´s not often you´ll hear an Irish bookie cheering an Aidan O´Brien Classic winner, but the Guineas was an absolutely cracking result for us.? The good recent record of horses priced 25-1 or over finishing in the frame ? highlighted in Saturday´s Racing Post ? continued with Stubbs Art finishing third at 100-1.
