Bumper entry for Hennessy

A total of 68 entries - the most since 1994 - were announced today for the 45th running of the Stg#100,000 Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Newbury on December 1st.

Somerset trainer Paul Nicholls has entered five - Whitbread Gold Cup winner Ad Hoc, former Cheltenham Gold Cup hero See More Business, leading two-mile chaser Fadalko and last season`s top staying novice Shotgun Willy plus Montifault.

Nicky Henderson has included high-class nine-year-old Marlborough among his four entries for the race, run over three and a quarter miles.

Champion trainer Martin Pipe, bidding for his third win in the race, has 10 possibles in the race.

French trainer Francois Doumen has two entries, Djeddah and Fulip, and the Irish possibles are Sackville, Moscow Express, Commanche Court, Foxchapel King, It`s Himself, Kings Valley and Artic Copper.

The Mark Pitman-trained Ever Blessed, who won the Hennessy in 1999 but who has been off the course since suffering an injury in last year`s Cheltenham Gold Cup, is another entry.
