Butler delays Nayyir decision

Royal Hunt Cup favourite Nayyir was confirmed for the Queen Anne Stakes today but Gerard Butler stressed that no decision has yet been made on the colt`s Royal Ascot target.

His four-year-old is quoted at just 2-1 by William Hill for Wednesday`s Hunt Cup, in which he looks a blot on the handicap after winning the Diomed Stakes at Epsom last Saturday.

But the Queen Anne 24 hours earlier remains a possible alternative, and Butler said: 'I have got to discuss it with the owner.

'I don`t want to sound evasive but I want to look at the Queen Anne and consider conditions and then we will decide over the weekend.

'I want to do what is right for the horse.'

Butler also trains 8-1 Hunt Cup second favourite Beauchamp Pilot but denied that would have any effect on the decision.

A total of 26 horses have stood their ground for the Group Two Queen Anne Stakes, which opens the Royal meeting.

They include Godolphin`s Best Of The Bests and Roger Charlton`s lightly-raced Frenchmans Bay, who finished third in the Sagitta 2000 Guineas last year.
