CAUSEWAY TO STAND AT COOLMORE

'Iron Horse' Giant`s Causeway is to commence stud duties at Coolmore in Ireland next year, it was confirmed today.

The news that the six-times Group One winner will remain in Ireland rather than stand at Coolmore`s sister operation, Ashford Stud in Kentucky, is a sizeable boost to the Irish bloodstock industry.

The son of Storm Cat failed by half a length in his bid for a remarkable sixtn consecutive victory at the highest level when going down to Observatory in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.

But his record stands at nine wins and three seconds from 12 starts and he is the first horse since Nijinksy to win five consecutive Group One races.

Before his retirement, Giant`s Causeway will first face Fusaichi Pegasus - who will himself be standing for Coolmore at Ashford next year - in the Breeders` Cup Classic at Churchill Downs.

The fees for both horses have yet to be announced.
