CECIL WAITING ON WEATHER

No decision has yet been made on the participation of Henry Cecil's two possibles for the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown on Saturday.

The Warren Place trainer has both Shiva and Beat Hollow in the Group One contest, the former needing ground no faster than good if she is to take part.

A stable spokeswoman said today: "Nothing has been decided yet, it really depends on the weather.

"I understand Sandown has not had the same volume of rain as elsewhere so we are just keeping an eye on it really."

Sandown has not received the same soaking as nearby Epsom but the ground has eased appreciably.

Clerk of the course Andrew Cooper said: "We had 15mm of rain overnight compared to 30mm at Epsom and the ground is now good, good to soft in places from good to firm.

"The forecast for today is for it to brighten up with a 20% chance of a shower in the afternoon.

"The forecast for tomorrow is for some unsettled weather but it is set to be mainly dry on Friday and Saturday so if that is correct there isn't a great deal more rain forecast.

"I would be disappointed if the going report couldn't be given without some mention of good ground and there will be a fresh strip of ground for the last six furlongs on Saturday which will obviously be in good nick."
