COCHRANE MADE TO WAIT Ray Cochrane will have to delay his return to race-riding until the end of the month, it was revealed today. The jockey, who sustained burns, extensive bruising and an eye injury in the plane crash that claimed the life of pilot Patrick Mackey last month, had hoped to be fit for the start of the July meeting at Newmarket on Tuesday. Cochrane rode out for trainer James Fanshawe last week but has been told by Jockey Club chief medical advisor Dr Michael Turner not to rush his comeback. His agent Andrew Gilbert said today: "Dr Turner has given him another three weeks. "Ray was hoping he was fit enough but he'll just have to wait. "Perhaps he was being a typical jockey and just rushing it a bit."
