Carroll to ride Rumpold in 2000 Guineas John Carroll was today handed the ride on Godolphin`s Rumpold in the Sagitta 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on Saturday.He will be hoping for as good a ride as last year when he finished fourth on the Dubai-based operation`s 'second-string' Zoning.John Carroll rode in Dubai in the winter and partnered fifth-placed West Order -who heads for the Irish 2000 Guineas _ in Godolphin`s colts` trial at Nad Al Sheba early last month.Rumpold won that trial under Frankie Dettori, who will be on the team`s ante-post favourite Tobougg (third) at Newmarket on Saturday.In his only race to date the colt beat subsequent Middle Park Stakes winner Minardi by five lengths in a maiden at Ascot last July and he is quoted at 8-1 for the Guineas by Ladbrokes.
