Champagne performance by Dubai

Dubai Destination came from last to first to claim the Rothman`s Royals Champagne Stakes in impressive fashion at Doncaster today.

The David Loder trained colt, sent off at 3-1, was settled last by Frankie Dettori who made a move two furlongs out and came with a powerful burst to claim favourite Rock Of Gibraltar (11-10) just inside the last furlong - going away for a comfortable length victory.

Leo`s Luckyman finished four lengths back in third.

'He always had great potential and has been showing more and more every time he worked.' said Dettori afterwards.

'I was pretty confident today. I spoke with David (Loder), and with being drawn one, I said that we would have to drop in and come through. But you need the horse to do that and Dubai Destination is the horse to do that.

'I had four lengths to make up but the pace was very strong and I knew they couldn`t maintain it. I knew my horse would quicken when I asked him.

'He`s not Fantastic Light yet but he`s going the right way!'
